About the Thames Estuary
The River Thames is 215 miles long and 68 miles of that (from Teddington lock to the North Sea) is tidal. The final 20 miles from Leigh-on-sea forms the estuary, an amazing ecosystem of mudflats and sandbanks which are uncovered each day to a varying degree.
